Deleting your account and data

Last updated 29 August 2026 · Version 1.0

You can delete your GradeLens account and everything in it at any time. This page explains how, and exactly what gets erased.

Deleting the app does not delete your account. Removing GradeLens from your phone leaves your account and data on our servers. Use one of the two methods below to actually erase it.

Method 1 — from inside the app

This is immediate and needs nothing from us.

  1. Open GradeLens and sign in.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Choose Account, then Delete account.
  4. Read the confirmation screen, which lists what is about to be erased.
  5. Confirm. Your account is closed and deletion begins straight away.

Method 2 — ask us

If you cannot sign in, or would rather we did it, email admin@ellermon.com with the subject line Account deletion request.

Please send the message from the email address on your account and include:

If you cannot send it from that address, we will need to verify your identity another way before we act — we will not delete an account on an unverified say-so, because that would be its own security problem.

What gets deleted

Everything. Specifically:

This is a permanent erasure, not a deactivation. We do not keep a shadow copy, and there is no way for us to restore an account once it is gone — so please export or write down anything you want to keep first.

What is kept, and why

The narrow exceptions to full erasure.
WhatKept forWhy
Encrypted backups containing your data Up to 35 days, then overwritten Backups are written as whole snapshots and cannot have one account surgically removed. They are encrypted and are never restored into the live service to recover deleted accounts.
Server logs referencing your account identifier Up to 90 days Security, fault diagnosis and abuse detection. These hold no learner names or marks.
A record that a deletion request was made and completed 3 years We must be able to show a regulator that we honoured your request.
Correspondence with you about the request 3 years Same reason.
Anything a law requires us to retain The period that law requires Legal obligation.

Deleting one child rather than the whole account

You do not have to delete everything. In the app, open the learner, choose Edit, then Delete learner. That erases that child's details, assessments, marks and events while leaving the rest of your account intact. This is the right route when, for example, a child leaves school or a custody arrangement changes.

Other rights

Deletion is one of several rights you have. You can also get a copy of your data, correct it, or object to how we use it — see making a data request and our Privacy Policy.
